This study analyses the relationship between online vigilance, boredom proneness, and loneliness, and examines the mediating role of loneliness in the relationship between online vigilance and boredom proneness. Data were collected from 345 participants in a cross-sectional design and examined using correlation analysis and Hayes’ Process Macro. The results indicated a moderate positive relationship between online vigilance and boredom proneness, a weak positive relationship between online vigilance and loneliness, and a strong positive relationship between boredom proneness and loneliness. Mediation analysis revealed that loneliness partially mediates the relationship between online vigilance and boredom proneness. Overall, the findings demonstrate that online vigilance is positively associated with boredom proneness, and that loneliness functions as a significant partial mediator in this relationship.
